Dear APSA members and Friends,

May has been a very busy month for APSA, starting with the Asia-Pacific Superyacht Summit on 7-8 May, where APSA was a Supporting Partner and a number of APSA Members were presenting, including myself. It was great to see the Asia-Pacific really stepping forward as the next superyacht hub, and a full report from the SYT team who organised the summit can be found in this newsletter.

The Bali Benoa Marina Ground Breaking Ceremony on 22 May 2025 marked a historic milestone in the development of Bali Benoa Marina, Indonesia’s first full-service luxury marina designed to support regional and international yacht tourism. Hosted by PT Marina Development Indonesia (MDI) in partnership with Pelindo, the ceremony brought together government leaders, private investors, tourism stakeholders, and media to witness the symbolic launch of a world-class maritime destination and celebrated World Boating Day in Asia.

Taking place at the Renaissance Harbour View Hotel in Hong Kong from 7 to 8 May, the summit brought together key decision-makers, including representatives from family offices, yacht management companies, captains, brokers, and other industry leaders to discuss developments in the region. Set against the dynamic backdrop of Hong Kong, the summit offered two days of essential discussions and strategic insights... the long read!

Backed by five generations of shipbuilding expertise, while embracing the latest in technological advances, Cheoy Lee Yachts serve up a unique and compelling blend to warm the hearts of discerning owners. Cheoy Lee has two facilities in China. The corporate headquarters is located in Hong Kong, along with a small adjoining shipyard facility purely for vessel repair, servicing local operators and the Hong Kong community.

The Asia Superyacht Night (Hong Kong) was a joint industry networking evening hosted by the Asia-Pacific Superyacht Association (APSA) and the Hong Kong Boating industry Association (HKBIA). Held at the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club, Kellett Island on the 8 May, the event was the concluding function for the 2nd Asia-Pacific Superyacht Summit (APSS) organised by SuperYacht Times.

The new Swan 128 touched the water for the first time this afternoon in Pietarsaari, Finland. A true milestone for Nautor Swan, this yacht represents the pinnacle of the Swan Maxi Line  and the result of an extraordinary effort by the entire shipyard team. In just a few weeks, she will be ready to sail, heading to the Mediterranean for cruising, racing, and eventually reaching her home port in Porto Cervo, before her worldwide première in Monaco for the Monaco Yacht Show.

In a historic development for the Cook Islands and the broader South Pacific maritime sector, Eleanor Keukura Roi, Chief Executive Officer of the Cook Islands Shipowners Association (CISOA), has been appointed as the new Chairman of the prestigious Asian Shipowners’ Association (ASA). The significant appointment took place during the ASA’s 34th Annual General Meeting (AGM), which convened this week in Jakarta.

Lantau Yacht Club (LYC) has achieved a significant milestone by being awarded the prestigious 5 Gold Anchor Platinum and Superyacht Ready accreditations from the Marina Industries Association (MIA). This dual recognition affirms LYC’s standing as one of Asia’s most advanced and service-oriented marinas, highlighting its excellence in operations, facilities, and hospitality.

The Australian Superyacht Conference (ASMEX) 2025 was held at stunning new beachfront venue, The Langham Gold Coast in Queensland from Monday 19 May to Wednesday 21 May.  The Conference welcomed 135 delegates from across Australia, and many counties across the world including the Fijian Islands, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden, Taiwan, United Kingdom and the United States, Vanuatu and Vietnam.

The George Group along with Cowie & Co and Lodestone Yachts, was pleased to be to be sponsors of the recent Asia-Pacific Superyacht Summit and in the lead up to the Summit, hosted a private dinner for 22 guests from 11 countries. Helped by good food and some superb wines the state of the superyacht industry was well and truly examined.
