YARE (Yachting Aftersales and Refit Experience) is a popular event on the Italian superyacht calendar. This year, as a result of Covid-19 travel restrictions, the Italian organisers decided it was time to go virtual, and the YARE GOES DIGITAL webinar series was created. APSA was one of the supporting partners, giving APSA members and Captains yet another the opportunity to participate in and connect with the global superyacht community.

 

The resilience of the Australian marine industry was showcased at the 2020 annual Australian Marine Industry Awards, hosted at the Southport Yacht Club on the Gold Coast. The COVID-safe event was also streamed live online, and celebrated the outstanding achievers in the Australian marine export, superyacht and commercial sectors.

Central Yacht is pleased to announce that after four years of lobbying and planning, the City Centre Kaohsiung Marina is now open to yachts. Berthing is stern-to, Med style, and is in an extremely protected location in the heart of the arts and tourism centre of the southern city of Kaohsiung, the centre of yacht building in Asia.


Northrop & Johnson Asia welcomes yacht broker Greg Dagge to its international team. Based in Southeast Asia (Phuket), Greg’s yachting industry knowledge and extensive contact list in the marine industry will ensure his success as a member of the team. Over the past few years, Greg has focused his attention on the large luxury motor yacht sales market, and superyacht refit and conversion projects.

The multihull yacht specialist Sail Lanka Yachting Group spotted the gap in the yacht- building industry, and took the initiative to design the Ocean Diamond – Boutique. But they didn’t stop there, and went on further to create and improve the concept with a modular space design option.

Influencers and bloggers of the international yachting industry will be the “celebrities” of the digital edition of YARE, Yachting Aftersales and Refit Experience, scheduled for the 26th and 27th of November. The event is organized by NAVIGO – a network for the development and the innovation of the nautical sector.

The Asia Boating Dialogue (ABD) 2020 was organised by Hong Kong Boating Industry Association (HKBIA) in collaboration with the Singapore Boating Industry Association (SBIA), and supported by the International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA).

The Asia-Pacific Yacht Industry High-Level Forum 2020 is an integral part of the Macau Yacht Show 2020 and in recent years it has become a key platform for connecting China to the international boating community. This year was a combination of live and virtual presentations, with speakers presenting live from Macau and Hong Kong, and online presentations from China, Australia and Switzerland, with bi-lingual online live video streaming.

 

Australia is set to become one of the world’s premier superyacht destinations under plans for a new $200 million maintenance and refit hub unveiled by Rivergate Marina and Shipyard.  The proposed expansion of the internationally acclaimed shipyard would be the catalyst for a major increase in superyacht visitation to Australia and the wider Pacific region due to its capability to service large luxury vessels over 50 metres.

Travel Cue are pleased that some progress has recently been made as the majority of major network carriers have started to issue refunds and some of the smaller regional and budget carriers are slowly cranking up the process.  Though challenges remain whilst some airlines struggle to secure loans and bailouts, Travel Cue will continue to lobby and encourage the airlines to resume normal practices to re-unite customers with their long overdue refunds.

Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard (GCCM) will receive AUD$20 million from Deb Frecklington’s LNP Queensland Government for its Stage II development which will see the lifting capacity of the Gold Coast increase to 1200 tonnes and the current facility more than double in size.
