In late 2021 the Howden Group bought Expat Marine and the partnership Colin Dawson’s The George Group had with Expat now continues with Howden. Colin is a specialist yacht insurance broker and an advocate for elephants and rhinos www.theelephantsociety.org He has been based in Hong Kong since 1994. With nearly 30 years’ experience in the marine insurance industry and over 22 of these spent specialising with insurance covers for yachts, their crew and the surrounding industry he is one of the most experienced insurance brokers in his field in the Asia Pacific region. Joining forces with Howden expands the network of specialists in the yacht insurance field, part of the world’s largest independent insurance broker with 10,000 staff in over 90 territories. Colin Dawson is also a keen sailor and actively takes part in regattas and off shore races around the region. Aside from insurance Colin was a Founder Member and Chairman until 2016 of the Asia Pacific Superyacht Association which was founded in 2011 to promote the Asia Pacific region as a destination and hub for superyachts. Colin is also passionate about endangered wildlife and set up The Elephant Foundation as an educational foundation raising awareness in Hong Kong and Asia about the plight of elephants and rhinos in particular, though also other endangered species such as lions and pangolins as well as the environment we share with these animals.
