The Asia-Pacific is back in action with Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore all hosting boat shows in the coming months. In early 2024 Australia and New Zealand will hold their annual soirèes and international boat shows, so there is a lot to look forward in the coming year, so make sure you put these date in your calendar now.

APSA was delighted to welcome 200 APSA members and guests to the Asia Superyacht Night in Monaco. Held on the eve of the Monaco Yacht Show, the demand for invites showed just popular the the event has become and is a hot ticket item amongst not just the Asia-Pacific superyacht community but also the global yacht industry. The evening showcased the unique beauty of the Cook Islands, and our special thanks go to the Cook Island dancers whose engaging performances created the perfect island vibe. Thanks also go to our nine sponsors whose support made the event possible.

Asia-Pacific Superyacht Association (APSA) hosted its signature event, ‘the Asia Superyacht Night’ on the eve of the Monaco Yacht Show 2023. APSA was pleased to be able to welcome 200 APSA members and guests to this invitation-only event, held on the rooftop of the Novotel Monaco. A ‘must do’ party for the Asia-Pacific superyacht community, the evening was a great mix of new and long-term APSA members, VIP industry professionals, and potential members all of whom enjoyed the relaxed Island vibe.

James Clayton talks to Merijin De Waard, from SuperYacht Times about his new role heading up the Simpson Superyachts Division, and his thoughts on the development of the superyacht industry in Asia. Looking ahead, he foresees the yachting market in Asia becoming the premier growth market in the world over the next ten to fifteen years.

During the “Shaping the Future” press conference held at Hotel Hermitage on the occasion of its 150th Anniversary, Benetti presented achievements of the last year and illustrated plans for development, revealing new design concepts. Among the highlights are collaborations with the most authoritative architecture and design studios. The new B.YOND 55M and “Project LIFE” 85M were revealed, along with the new concept of the “Benetti Veranda Deck™” that disrupts the traditional limit between interior and exterior on the main deck.

The Ferretti Group celebrated 60 years of CRN during the Monaco Yacht Show. where they had seven magnificent yachts on display including the Riva 130’ Bellissima, Custom Line Navetta 42, Custom Line 140’, Pershing GTX116, Pershing 140, wallywhy200 and wallypower58. To mark this special anniversary, CRN obtained Sustainable Powered Yacht (SuP-Y) certification thanks to a sustainable technology that entails the installation of modern fuel cells on board a superyacht.

OCEA Yachts unveiled its new 72-metre Ultimate Explorer Superyacht at the Monaco Yacht Show, The OCEA design office developed the concept based on the design of a patrol vessel. A pioneer in aluminium shipbuilding the OCEA yard was established in 1987. Philippe Briand's London firm Vitruvius Yachts worked on the project's design and has retained the silhouette of the patrol vessel.

Horizon Yachts has launched and delivered a new FD110 Tri-Deck, called Crowned Eagle. The fifth hull of the superyacht Fast Displacement (FD) model, this FD110 was built for a repeat owner who, after actively cruising aboard and enjoying their FD92 Tri-Deck Crowned Eagle, selected the FD110 Tri-Deck platform upon which they could customize a layout to suit their lifestyle.

Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard (GCCM), recently announced its partnership with The International SeaKeepers Company, a non-profit organization that promotes oceanographic research, conservation, and education through direct involvement with the yachting community. GCCM is the first shipyard and the second marina in Australia to form a partnership in marine conservation with SeaKeepers.

Throughout 2023, APSA has been focused on reconnecting with the Asia-Pacific superyacht community, and with Asian yacht shows and conferences back on the calendar, it is proving to be a busy year. The organic growth of APSA continues to be extremely positive, and several new members have joined in 2023.

As summer finishes the superyacht scene hots up. Next on APSA’s calendar is Monaco, where I look forward to catching up with Members at the AGM and the APSA Asia Superyacht Night on 26th September. Twenty-one Australian industry representatives travelled to Port Denarau, Fiji to participate in the third annual Australia-Fiji Rendezvous sponsored by Benetti Yachts and held on August 25, 2023.  Ten superyachts were in attendance on the day, however due to the busy season in Fiji a total of 19 superyachts were engaged during the three days that included the locally organized Superyacht Gathering.

Involving the largest fleet of Horizon yachts to date, an impressive 25, and around 125 guests, the 2023 Horizon Yacht Owners’ Rendezvous will take place 6 to 9 November at the magnificent Coral Sea Marina Resort, Airlie Beach.

To cater to an increasing business portfolio and a more complex yacht insurance market The George Group, in partnership with Howden, Christy Lai has joined the team and with her background in insurance and administration, she will be assisting Daniel Chong in looking after clients’ needs.

Ferretti Group is attending the 45th Cannes Yachting Festival in grand style from September 12th to 17th, 2023. Ferretti will present on a world premiere Pershing GTX116, which delivers an eagerly awaited thrill and unprecedented performance, and Riva 82’ Diva, the entry level model in Riva’s flybridge range, as well as wallywhy150.

Simpson Superyachts Division is delighted to announce the sale of a 44.5-metre Sanlorenzo Alloy KAMAKASA, which will soon be handed over to her new owners. The sale of KAMAKASA was accomplished by the team at Simpson Superyachts.

 

StellarPM has introduced the SF2603 26m sportsfishing model to its series of power catamarans. Based on the StellarCAT AL2503, the SF2603 offers the same high-volume tri-deck styling but has an upgraded power option for greater speed.

After the success of the B.Now 72M, Benetti is gearing up to start work on the first B.Now 60M with Oasis Deck®, sold in collaboration with brokerage company SuperYachtsMonaco.
