The new APSA 10th Anniversary Edition of the APSA Guide has received a lot of positive comments. We did a short print run in the Netherlands (to avoid costly transportation) and it was presented to APSA Members at METSTRADE. Another print run is now under way in Hong Kong for distribution to the Asia-Pacific APSA members.

APSA: When did you join APSA and why did you join?

Mike Simpson: I was one of the first people to join APSA and have continued to support the Association over its 10 years history.

The PHUKET OPEN BOAT, organized by Northrop & Johnson, on the 11and 12 November 2021, presented a line-up of 17 luxury yachts for inspection at the Phuket Yacht Haven Marina.

YACHTZOO JAPAN reports the sale of M/Y SILENT WORLD II,  the 120 Christensen which was sold while the yacht was at its home marina in the Kansai region of Japan (near Kobe and Osaka), with YACHTZOO’s Nigel Beatty representing both the Japanese seller and the Australian buyer for this sale.

Asia Pacific Superyacht reports that Indonesia is reopening to superyachts and foreign-flagged vessels who are considering cruising in the region, and provides some updates on Indonesian ports and major logistical hubs.

Mectra Synergy has been appointed as an authorized distributor of Xylem Applied Water Systems representing Jabsco & Rule products for the Marine Market in the sales territory of Malaysia.

Sanlorenzo’s iconic cross-over yacht, the SX88, has officially made her way to Singapore’s One 15 Marina and will berth there for another few weeks, right in front of the Simpson Marine/Sanlorenzo SEA Flagship office where customers are welcome to visit and discuss their yachting projects.

M/Y Kalizma -The Classic Superyacht that was once owned by the famous film stars Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton was the first Superyacht to berth in the new Colombo City Marina.

Superyachts 153° are very excited to be agents for one of first quarantine free International Superyacht arrivals into Australia since borders were closed, in March 2020. The 62.5m vessel with 15 crew onboard arrived into NSW, Australia mid-November.

The Asia Pacific Superyacht Association (APSA) is ten years old. This young Association that has played an active role in promotion of the Asia-Pacific to the global superyacht community as one of the world’s three main cruising regions.

Superyacht Australia, the peak body for the Australian superyacht industry, is excited to announce the date for the third annual Superyacht Australia Soirée as Saturday 26 February 2022 at Jones Bay Marina from 1400hs – 2000hrs.

METSTRADE is happening this week, and APSA will be represented by two of our Committee members, Christophe Ceard (Vice Chairman) and Gordon Fernandes.  Some of our APSA Members are exhibiting at METSTRADE: Navim Group, Sevenstar Yacht Transport, YACHTNEEDS and Cluster Yachting Monaco - so if you are wandering around the Superyacht Pavilion, do stop by to say hello!

The 10th Anniversary issue has the has the usual features of members details, and destination information, but it also includes a brief history of APSA over the last 10 years.

The islands of South East Asia, home to many Superyachts’ favourite destinations, have been challenged for the past year and a half as Covid-19 and ensuing pandemic closed many borders. Time and again plans to reopen popular hotspots in countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and the Andaman Islands have been put on hold.

The award-winning Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard (GCCM) is yet again setting standards in the marina industry. After partnering with the Centre for a Waste Free world at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT), the “Closing the Loop” project was established in July of this year and will ultimately lead to a circular economy within the Gold Coast based shipyard.

Simpson Marine are delighted to announce the recent sale of a Lagoon motor Catamaran the SEVENTY 8 Flaghip – into Hong Kong, with expected delivery due in Summer 2022.

Although distinctly modern in its use of fibreglass and composite lines, the Motopanfilo 37M is heavily inspired by its historical originators. Motopanfilo is an Italian word used in the 1960s to denote the large motor yachts of the time: an era of many stylistic and creative successes.

A part of Affinity’s growth in 2021 has entailed an expansion into a new jurisdiction, the Cayman Islands. The strategy behind the expansion is to encompass more opportunities for our clients in multiple jurisdictions and to offer further flexibility and solutions.

The Oasis Lounge was buzzing with activity during the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show 2021 on 27-31 October. Superyacht Captains, Crew, Sponsors and VIPs mingled in two special show locations: the Hall of Fame/Coconuts Dock at the main show and the Superyacht Village.
