World Boating Day

As a non-profit cross-industry body working for the benefit of the superyacht industry, Superyacht Life Foundation is initiating World Boating Day to organise a day for celebrating leisure boating with a focus on the people behind the scenes and the lifestyle that yachting provides.

To enhance the global recognition of the various leisure boating sectors by uniting industry professionals and newcomers, fostering an international celebration that brings the understanding and enjoyment of leisure boating, yachting, and water sports within everyone’s reach.

To reshape the perception of yachting and superyachting by fostering global accessibility, we strive to dismantle barriers, offering people unprecedented access to the world of leisure boating and superyachting, both behind the scenes and onboard, in order to transform them as universally appreciated industries. Through collaboration with industry pioneers and partners, we aim to make boating an attainable, attractive and cherished global experience.

Objectives:

  • Unveiling the cycle behind boat design, build, and behind-the-scenes operations while also encouraging people to see the unknown side of the boating industry
  • Seamlessly integrating all leisure boating offerings to foster a sense of unity and provide guests an opportunity to gain an exclusive glimpse of the yachting lifestyle
  • Attracting next-generation talent for them to engage with job opportunities that the leisure boating industry provides
  • Creating PR value and messaging with the International Day to celebrate boating worldwide.

World Boating Day is not our campaign: it is a collective campaign that aims to create a promotional platform that benefits everybody in the industry. All companies are free about how they deliver or execute the project as it is the responsibility of each company and free to choose who to invite to World Boating Day that they organise on their premises.

The concept for World Boating Day encompasses a broad range of potential activities, from invite-only events to public open days, employee days, career days students, to try-a-boat initiatives, sample watersports lessons, interactive yard experiences, virtual tours – the only limits are your own imagination on how you would like to take part. While the organising team encourages all boat, yacht and superyacht builders, yards, associations, and companies to open their doors, the event will also incorporate online activities and participation for those for whom live events are not practical.

Target Audience of the Day: The attendees will vary from one company to another. In a broad sense, the targeted attendees could be:

  • Public: The public can be invited to see behind-the-scenes at shipyards or other leisure boating-related businesses (i.e. design studios, marinas), and to meet the people who derive their living from this extraordinary industry.
  • Students: For companies interested in attracting next-generation talent, World Boating Day would present a great opportunity. From primary schools to universities, students of all ages can be involved in this process to guarantee the future of the industry.
  • Media: Non-industry media can either be invited to these events or be informed about these events to highlight the people and communities who benefit from employment in the superyacht industry, and to propagate this event to further audiences.

How you can help? Associations, foundations, and similar organisations are invited to collaborate for this event to create awareness about this open day among the leisure boating industry.
