Top Ranking for Hill Dickinson’s Asian Offices

Hill Dickinson’s Asia-Pacific offices are celebrating their success after achieving new rankings in The Legal 500 Asia-Pacific 2020 legal directory.

Hill Dickinson Hong Kong is ranked as a Tier 2 firm in shipping, recognised as an “established presence in the Hong Kong market”, providing a “professional and customer-orientated service across the gamut of wet and dry litigation”.

The firm’s Shipping Litigation partner and Head of Hong Kong Office, Damien Laracy, has been acknowledged as a ‘leading individual’, commended for his ‘in-depth understanding of international maritime laws and practices’.

Edward Liu, legal director and counsel at Hill Dickinson Hong Kong, has been named as a ‘next generation partner’ and is highly praised for being a PRC and UK-qualified practitioner who has ‘significantly enhanced the firm's profile in the mainland Chinese market among shipowners, charterers and operators, particularly in light of his ability to guide indigenous entities dealing with international arbitration and litigation’.

The Hong Kong office’s dispute resolution (litigation) team, jointly led by Damien Laracy and partner Bryan O’Hare, has also been ranked in the directory for its strength in international trade and commodities disputes, shipping litigation, and insolvency-related cases.

Hill Dickinson’s Singapore office has also achieved great success in this year’s Legal 500 and has maintained its Tier 1 position for shipping. Noted for its strong offering in wet shipping, particularly working high-profile cases including the collision and sinking of “STAR CENTURION” and a fire on the “YANTIAN EXPRESS”.

Tony Goldsmith, head of the Singapore office and master mariner, is recognised as a ‘leading individual’ and described in a testimonial as ‘an experienced lawyer’ who gives ‘accurate advice at an early stage'.

The directory rankings reaffirm Hill Dickinson’s position as a global leader in the shipping industry.
