We hope this information will be valuable to all yacht owners and those in the industry. We value your feedback and would love to hear your thoughts. Are there any specific areas you would like us to cover in future editions? Please let us know.

On another topic, with the continuing interest in new marinas in the region there comes the somewhat less romantic side of marina operation, insurance and risks management. Many marinas will have various insurance covers to cater to their varying needs and most of these will be individual policies, often with different insurers and sometimes even arranged by different insurance brokers. Marinas present an interesting challenge from an insurance point of view in that they are a mix of marine and non-marine risks.

This is like oil and water to the insurance industry and seldom do they mix well. At The George Group in our partnership with Howden we specialise in arranging insurance covers for yachts and the surrounding industry. We work with specialist insurers to cater to the needs of our clients to ensure the right cover is in place. This will not likely be the cheapest cover but it will be with high quality insurers with bespoke policies. The way many marinas and yacht clubs arrange their insurance covers leaves gaps in the cover which can end up being extremely costly. Please feel free to contact the undersigned to discuss cover and the right programme for you.
