Phuket Open Boat

The PHUKET OPEN BOAT, organized by Northrop & Johnson, on the 11and 12 November 2021, presented a line-up of 17 luxury yachts for inspection at the Phuket Yacht Haven Marina. Yachts on display included the magnificent 34m/111.5 ft Moonen motor yacht XANADU OF LONDON, managed for sale and charter by Northrop & Johnson (N&J), the superfast and sleek ‘Ferrari of the Seas’, 12.4m/38' Farr Premier ATARI VI, and Lee Marine’s sales listing, the immaculate 23m/ 68' Riviera Sports motoryacht FATBOY.

Leading Phuket charter companies joined N&J for the event with motor yachts, sailing monohulls and catamarans, and luxury custom-built vessels, varying in size from 12m/38 ft to 51m/167 ft. Phuket's luxury yacht and tourism industry professionals were invited to inspect the yachts. Organizer Lies Sol of Northrop & Johnson said, “Despite heavy rain and a huge traffic jam on Thepkassatri Road due to a Buddhist Monk blessing procession, we had a better-than-expected turn-out, especially on Friday. Everyone mentioned they were happy to participate in such a positive event, showing charter yachts in time for the high season, catching up with colleagues, and making new connections.”

Josh Lee, Founder and MD of Lee Marine and Northrop & Johnson said, “It’s great news the event was a success, we believe in taking the initiative and staying active and busy. I am also pleased with the great effort of everyone involved.”

M/Y XANADU OF LONDON just finalized a two-year, multi-million-dollar refit. Captain Mark Wilkinson exclaimed “I was so proud showing her in the event. I don’t think photos do her enough justice; you need to be onboard to appreciate her in all her glory. I’m still just blown away by how good she looks, like a new yacht.” Jai Dhillon, the marina’s Business Development Manager said “I would like to thank N & J and all other companies for making it happen. We were delighted to be able to host the event just before we continue with the installation of latest-generation pontoons, significantly increasing our berth capacity for superyachts. Yacht Haven Marina and Phuket continue to grow as a world-class boating and charter destination.”
