Ocean Tribute Award nomination for the Super Yacht Group Great Barrier Reef Member, The Coral Sea Foundation

The Super Yacht Group Great Barrier Reef are pleased to announce that Super Yacht Group Great Barrier Reef members, The Coral Sea Foundation were recently nominated for the prestigious Ocean Tribute Award presented by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the German Ocean Foundation.

We fully support the work Coral Sea Foundation are doing to raise awareness of the ecological and social value the Coral Sea and Eastern Coral Triangle, and to be proactive in its sustainable management.

The Ocean Tribute Awards distinguish outstanding projects and initiatives dedicated to protecting the oceans, and are presented annually on the Blue Motion night at the Boot Dusseldorf marine expo in Germany. There are three awards, in the categories of Society, Science, and Industry. The Coral Sea Foundation was nominated in the Society category for their work in Sea Women of Melanesia training program and for supporting communities and creating marine reserves in Papua New Guinea.

It is extremely rewarding to have the hard work of the Coral Sea Foundation team and the passion our network of supporters recognised at such a prestigious event, and Dr Andy Lewis will be attending the award ceremony in person in Dusseldorf. It is a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness in Europe of the ecological and social value of the Coral Sea and Eastern Coral Triangle, and the importance of the work the Foundation is doing to help communities and sustainably manage marine resources. The Boot Dusseldorf expo also showcases some of the world's leading multihull and super-yacht manufacturers, where The Coral Sea Foundation will be able to make valuable contacts to further the Foundation's Vessel Development Program.

Although the Foundation were unsuccessful in winning the major prize, which went to European organizations, may valuable contacts were made with The Prince Albert Foundation, which was an important link to make.

"Thanks once again to all of you that have supported the Coral Sea Foundation over the last two years, we couldn't have done it without you, and I am optimistic we have another great year of action and growth coming up!"  Dr Andy Lewis
