M/Y Lady Christine Leaves GCCM

The Superyacht Basin at Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard (GCCM) will be looking a bit different the next few days. After taking up residence at the Gold Coast based shipyard for the last 6 months, M/Y Lady Christine (68m Feadship) is setting off for Tahiti. Having spent most of her time encapsulated, M/Y Lady Christine is now unwrapped and ready for the next adventure.

After arriving on the Gold Coast at the end of March, works immediately began to accommodate the 68-meter Feadship and the extensive refit ahead. Onsite business, GC Marine surrounded M/Y Lady Christine with additional pontoons to allow for safe and efficient access before encapsulation began.

Utilizing over 100 tonnes of scaffolding and taking 13 days, it was hands down the largest encapsulation in Australia. The process went through vigorous environmental standards which GCCM was already familiar with having set the standard for on-water refits with previous projects like M/Y SuRi (63 meters) and M/Y Dragonfly (74 meters).

The multi-million dollar refit of M/Y Lady Christine was overseen by Captain Graham Chilcott with assistance from GCCM Project Manager ‘Aussie’ Pete Grocock. The refit employed over a dozen businesses onsite at GCCM as well as several talented marine trades from across Australia. Acting as the epicentre for the extensive refit, GCCM allowed for efficient trade access, crew accommodations, equipment hires, and virtually anything else a refit of this size may have needed.

M/Y Lady Christine will be leaving a rather large space in the Superyacht Basin however the experienced team and functional facilities at GCCM mean it will not be empty for long.
