Lantau Yacht Club: The Yachting Hub

Hong Kong has over 10,000 registered pleasure yachts as of 2020, and out of approximately 100 yachts are over 30m.  There are only  a small number of berths with proper marina shelter and berthing facilities available for big yachts in Hong Kong, and the spaces available can only accommodate half of the existing superyachts.

Hong Kong is a gateway to mainland China and one of the best transit locations for yachts cruising in the Asia-Pacific region. The lack of berthing facilities has hindered bigger yachts coming from overseas to stop over Hong Kong before continuing their voyages of the region.

LANTAU YACHT CLUB (LYC) – NEW AND IMPROVED

With this marina planning in mind, the LYC is the first marina in Hong Kong designed to cater to the specific needs of superyachts. Marina Projects UK, one of the world’s leading marina consultants, was appointed to advise on the masterplan design, berth mix and technical provisions for the project, while Atkins was responsible for the structural design of the concrete pontoon system.

Featuring 38 berths for yachts from 30m to over 60m, LYC can accommodate megayachts up to about 100m, LYC is now also the only marina accepting visiting superyachts without membership with the mission to promote yachting in Hong Kong and in Asia, and strengthen Hong Kong’s position as Asia’s hub for the leisure boating industry and Asia’s largest market for superyachts.

WELCOMING SUPERYACHTS TO THE MARINA

Since the arrival of our first member’s yacht at this state-of-the-art marina a while ago, the membership, especially for the superyacht berths, are starting to fill up. We expect, as and when the entry ban on pleasure boats gets lifted, more prospective customers will come forward to this welcoming destination where they can enjoy the relaxed, luxury lifestyle on offer.

One recent arrival is a Pershing 140 which was first unveiled in Monaco Grand Prix 2019, and recently made its debut in Asia. It is now elegantly moored in the beautiful setting of the LYC Marina.

It will be joined by a Custom Line Navetta 30 which is expected to arrive in Hong Kong and and be berthed at Lantau Yacht in April 2021. It is the first Custom Line yacht to feature exterior design by Filippo Salvetti and interiors by Milan-based Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, which is normally associated with luxury residences. It offers 334 sqm over four decks, a 25% improvement in interior volume over the model’s predecessor.

Lantau Yacht Club  (LYC) membership is by invitation only. Interested parties can email explore@lantauyachtclub.com / (852) 2987 9518
