Chairman’s Message 28 March 202

April sees the return of the Singapore Yachting Festival (SYF) after a highly successful inaugural event in 2023. The SYF will take place 25-28 April 2024 at ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove. With over 70 yachts on display and an abundance of F&B, entertainment, and immersive activities on offer, visitors will be able to fully engage in the yachting lifestyle. APSA is a Supporting Partner for the SYF, and we look forward to welcoming superyachts to the event this year. APSA members are eligible for a discount code and for more information Suzy Rayment at admin@apsuperyacht.org

On writing this we have just seen the finish of two springtime boat shows on opposite side of the globe. The Palm Beach Boat Show in Florida, a very important superyacht show on the annual calendar, and the Japan International Boat Show located in Yokohama near Tokyo. Both shows report great attendance and good business. In Japan Toyota announced the new Lexus Yacht to be built in collaboration with Horizon Yachts (an APSA member). A flurry of buyer interest followed the announcement.

The Inaugural ICOMIA Boating Industry Conference 22-23 April (in Singapore, and just prior to the SYF on 25-28 April) will focus on sustainability and decarbonization for yachts under 24m. Early bird tickets are available online until 31 March, but if you miss the deadline and you are an APSA member please contact Suzy Rayment at admin@apsuperyacht.org for the discount code.

In May, the Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX), together with Superyacht Australia and the Australian Commercial Marine Group, will host three international keynote speakers for the upcoming annual ASMEX Conference to be held 20-22 May 2024 at the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort, Gold Coast, Queensland.

Finally, in June, there is the Inaugural Asia-Pacific Superyacht Summit organized by Superyacht Times Media Group. APSA is a Supporting Partner for this Summit, which takes place 5-6 June 2024 at the Renaissance Harbour View Hotel Hong Kong. The two-day event is gathering an impressive line-up of local and international speakers; there will be a number of APSA members speaking, including myself!

You can find more details about the Summit in this newsletter, and again APSA Members who are planning to attend are eligible for an APSA membership discount. For more information contact admin@apsuperyacht.org for more information on membership discounts, or information on sponsorship and networking opportunities surrounding this new event.

Other news stories include the wrap up story on the Horizon Open House, and I would personally like to thank John Lu for his welcome to the 40-strong Japanese contingent who attended this amazing Horizon celebration. I would like to invite members to think about ways that they can get involved in World Boating Day on 25/26 May, 2024. Find a way to celebrate your passion for boating, and join in this celebration of yachting from big to small and from power to sail. Join with APSA to make these upcoming inaugural events a success.

Best Regards

Nigel Beatty
