Chairman’s Message 28 February 2022

February has been a busy month, with the Miami International Yacht Show, Superyacht Australia Soirée 2022, and the German Superyacht Conference on the calendar. Coming up very soon is the Dubai International Yacht Show, YARE 2022, the Japan International Boat Show, Palm Beach International Boat Show, and the Thailand Yacht Show (Part 1) in Pattaya in April.

APSA is pleased to welcome a new member - Cannan Oceanus, a new generation management company with offices in Hong Kong, China, and the Philippines, and offering exceptional services in Asia-Pacific region. “Our team consists of highly experienced personnel, passionate about providing creative solutions. We are specialists in brokerage, sales, crew management, itinerary planning, shore support and refit management,” says Penci Ho, Director of Cannan Oceanus.  “Our goals are to optimize the utilization of resources, minimize the element of risk, and continuously exceed our client's expectations.”

While many countries such as PNG, Fiji and Thailand are opening their borders to international travellers, others are locking down again. This is the case in Hong Kong. World events are providing plenty of headaches where forward planning is concerned, but APSA members can stay connected online, and we will continue to send out a newsletter every two weeks. We are also planning a new series of the APSA Grand Tour webinars: details to be announced shortly.

The Committee has decided that APSA will have a presence at the forthcoming Asia-Pacific events:

Dubai International Boat Show from 7 - 13 March.

Thailand Yacht Show Part 1, Pattaya, 7 – 10 April.

Australian Superyacht, Marine Export and Commercial Industry (ASMEX) Conference, InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort, 16 – 18 May.

Suzy Rayment, APSA Executive Director, will be attending all the above events. Any APSA members and friends of APSA planning to attend any of these events, please let Suzy know so that she can follow up and arrange APSA get-togethers at the various events.

Whatever challenges lie ahead of us, APSA will navigate through the rough and smooth like true sailors! We are looking forward to continuing to build the ever-growing Asia-Pacific superyacht community.
