Chairman’s Message 20 July 2023

New marinas and shipyard facilities are coming online in Asia, and more superyachts are arriving, which is all adds up to good news for the Asia-Pacific superyacht community. The opening of ONE°15 Marina Nirup Island adds yet another berthing venue in the region, and with the local support voiced by the Indonesian Officials at the opening ceremony, bodes well for the future success of this new facility. Another success story for the region was the 10th Australia Tahiti Rendezvous, sponsored by Benetti Yachts, which drew a gathering of 27 vessels and attracted superyacht captains and crew from around the world.

New yachts continue to arrive in Asia, and the Ferretti Group APAC were recently pleased to announce the arrival of the first Custom Line Navetta 30 in the Lion City - and Simpson Marine were delighted to announce the arrival of a Sanlorenzo SL106 Asymmetric in Hong Kong. New APSA member Horizon Group, one of the top 10 superyacht builders in the world, will be showcasing their V74 and FD80 yachts at the 2023 Sydney International Boat Show (SIBS) through their distributor Horizon Yacht Australia (HYA).

Superyacht industry infrastructure is also expanding in East Asia, with StellarPM recently securing a new factory in Zhuhai, (PRC). The factory spans an impressive 16,000 square feet (1,700 square meters) and will focus on manufacturing interiors for StellarPM's RENEW and new construction projects.

Phuket in Thailand continues to offer an impressive selection of high-end superyacht marinas, along with a vibrant nightlife, numerous cultural attractions, five-star hotels and restaurants, and nearby beautiful and uninhabited islands to explore. One of the great yachting playgrounds of Southeast Asia, its most important asset is undoubtedly the genuine warmth and gracious hospitality of the Thai people.

Asia-Pacific hospitality is also the hallmark of APSA’s Asia Superyacht Night in Monaco, and APSA is pleased announce that Maritime Cook Islands have returned as the Premium (Headline) sponsor, along with YACHTZOO and Hill Dickinson (Gold Sponsors) and Azure Yacht Crew Health, GMT Global Marine Travel and Frigomar (Silver Sponsors). We still have one gold and one silver sponsorship slot available, so if your company is interested in being part of one of the best parties in Monaco, then contact Suzy for details. Remember - we look forward to welcoming all our members to APSA’s signature event on Tuesday 26 September, 2023. Remember to save the date in your calendar, and I look forward to seeing you in Monaco later this year.

Enjoy your time on the water.

Regards

Nigel Beatty
