The 2nd Thailand International Boat Show 2024

The second edition of the Thailand International Boat Show A Luxury Life Style Event received strong government support with the show and was officially opened by Kitti Chaodee, Secretary to Thailand’s Minister for Tourism and Sports. In his opening address he noted the importance of the Thailand International Boat Show and its role in boosting tourism, and he also highlighted the importance of tourism as a mechanism to help Thailand’s economic recovery.

Building on the success of the inaugural show, this year’s event expanded in size and boasted an impressive multi-billion display of sail and motor yachts in the water ranging in price from under 1 million baht up to superyachts worth more than 400 million baht. Charter yachts were also on display, including the 40m superyacht M/Y Silentworld presented by ISEO Yachting and TJB Superyachts of London.

Speaking at the official opening, Adul Chuthong, Deputy Governor of Phuket shared that Phuket is developing sustainable tourism strategies that will cement its position as a global destination that meets international standards. Recognising the importance of marine tourism and the Thailand International Boat Show, the Deputy Governor stressed that continuous tourism growth will help to empower and develop a strong local economy.

David Hayes, CEO of organisers JAND Events, said, “Thousands of visitors enjoyed the diverse line-up of boats on display, and this was complemented by leading luxury brands and businesses who were exhibiting in the marquee onshore. The packed four-day social programme included interactive experiences for the whole family and acted as a platform to drive business for Thailand’s marine industry. In addition to the exhibitor displays, visitors also enjoy the waterside eateries along Royal Phuket Marina’s boardwalk, and the daily live entertainment and social activities in the evenings, as well as family fun daytime activities on Children’s Day.

The success of this year’s boat show is a boost for the industry and a number of companies have already signed up for next years event running from the 9-12 January 2025.

A number of APSA members were exhibiting at the show and they included Simpson Marine, Lee Marine, Northrop & Johnston, and Seabob, and a number of members were attending the show and they included Benetti, Ferretti Group Asia Pacific, Burgess, Asia Pacific Superyachts, Kingship Marine, Sea Leisure Yachting Group (SLYG), and Clearvac Engineering Asia. Feedback from APSA members, was that Phuket is the perfect superyacht destination and there is potential here to grow the superyacht community.

The success of this year’s show was  a boost for the industry and a number of companies have already signed up for next year’s event with the Thailand Yachting Conference being held on the 8 January and the Thailand International Boat Show being held from the 9-12 January 2025.
