Shipowner’s Cup’s Podcasts: Preventing Yacht Electrical Fires

There has been a steady increase in the number of yacht fires over previous years, with a particular increase in fires that have started as a result of faulty electrical equipment. This is a trend that has been felt both at the Club and in the wider yachting industry in general. As such, Shipowners Club’s  Loss Prevention Department have collaborated with various experts within the industry to produce the Club’s first podcast mini-series addressing this issue.  Each of our guests have their specialism within the yacht industry and will therefore bring to the discussion a variety of different perspectives and opinions from key areas such as a flag State, underwriting and surveying.

The Shipowners Club entire podcast series (of four) is now available on their website at https://www.shipownersclub.com/lossprevention/podcast-yacht-electrical-fires/.

The series covers the following topics:

Episode 1 - A Hull and Machinery Insurers’ view on yacht electrical fires

Episode 2 - Common causes of yacht electrical fires

Episode 3 - A flag State’s perspective on yacht electrical fires

Episode 4 -Shipowners’ Club and yacht electrical fires
